Illinois Same-Sex Marriage Goes into Effect Statewide Sunday!

What an exciting weekend ahead! Sunday, June 1, 2014 marks the day that the Illinois law allowing same-sex couples to marry goes into effect statewide!!!  We are proud that Illinois became the 16th state to legalize same-sex marriage after the Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act was signed last year. This important law is one we have been waiting on.  As wedding planners we have the privilege of planning a day for beloved family and friends to celebrate two people full of love and romance. Big City Bride is BEYOND excited to start this summer celebrating all kinds of love! Love is patient, love is kind, LOVE IS EQUAL! We are sending happy wishes to all gay marriages taking place this monumental weekend and all the rest to come. Big City Bride would love to be apart of a same-sex wedding, keep us in mind for all the celebration planning!

Lisa + Logan Endless Love, All Night Long

It was a luxurious and romantic wedding planned at one of the most grand Chicago wedding venues available – The Great Hall at Union Station. The room was sparkling…and we mean SPARKLING! Gorgeous crystals hung from the Great Hall’s ceiling and the decor was awe inspiring. Each guest lost their breath for a second as the entered the venue gasping over the amazing sight. Couches and chairs were furnished with beautiful pillows accompanied by mirror-topped tables and perfect pink floral arrangements. However, as if the decor was not enough to WOW the guests,  Chicago Celebrity Wedding Planner Chrissy Magliano even managed to surprise every guest with LIONEL RICHIE!!!. It truly was “Endless Love” “All Night Long.” It was the most perfect wedding and we are still smiling thinking about Mr. Richie singing LIVE at a Big City Bride wedding!! How wonderful it was. Today, we are sending love and hugs to our beautiful couple Lisa and Logan! We hope your first year of marriage was everything you hoped for and more. Thanks for letting us plan the celebration of your dreams. Thinking of you always, Happy Anniversary!

No More Roses: Bachelor Star says “I do” in Chicago.

We are thrilled to share last nights wedding is featured on AND US!! Make sure to read both articles:

US Weekly:

Michael Stagliano, ABC’s The Bachelorette star in 2009, Bachelor Pad 2 winner in 2011 and Bachelor Pad 3 in 2012 tied the knot with Emily Tuscherer at an outdoor ceremony in downtown Chicago under perfect weather conditions. Bachelor/Bachelorette alums who also attended include: Tenley Molzahn, Kiptyn Locke, Robby Descant and Ed Swiderski. Of course Stagliano’s twin brother Stephen Stagliano was also there with his “Bachelorette” wife DeAnna Pappas.

Immediately after they exchanged their vows, Big City Bride wedding planner Chrissy Magliano said the bride & groom looked at her with tears in their eyes, smiling and saying, “We’re just so happy… we are just so happy.”

Michael Stagliano and Emily Tuchscherer met Memorial Day weekend two years ago and it has been a fairytale story ever since. The two met at one of Stagliano’s music shows in Chicago. Stagliano says, “She’s the best thing that has ever happened to me in my whole life.” Both realized it was something special and decided to be married on the same weekend in the same city where they originally met.

It was an amazing celebration filled with many surprises. Michael, Emily, Stephen Stagliano (Best Man) and Clare Tuscherer (Maid of Honor) performed a surprise coregraphed dance, which can be found on the Big City Bride Instagram account (check it out for many exclusive pictures and videos). Later in the evening, Michael surprised his new bride with a special dance performed by him and his groomsmen. It was AMAZING!!! Big City Bride has heard about this special surprise for weeks…..we could NOT wait to see it live! (VIDEO ON BIG CITY BRIDE INSTAGRAM). The entire room could not stop smiling. Big City Bride was so happy to be apart of this celebration!

Trending Tuesday from Susan

Wedding season is BACK and Susan has the scoop on wedding trends for this coming year. Of course year round we diligently plan and design, but the busy season is upon us and it is the time where our work comes to life. Big City Bride loves working with all different types of clients because it gives us the opportunity to design for various styles. We craft each wedding to meet exactly what our couple envisions. Our specialty is incorporating traditional dcor with new and exciting trends. We perfectly create a balance between classy, elegant and trendy…or anything our client desires!

One 2014 wedding trend we are LOVING is a “Beauty Bar”. Susan reports, “We are taking the bathroom amenity basket up a notch by setting up a ‘Beauty Bar’ at their wedding receptions so that the gals can get dolled up!  Beauty technicians can add lashes, lips, curls or simply provide “touch-ups” as a treat to the ladies. This trend has been spotted at a Big City Bride wedding and the guests absolutely adored the complimentary pamper.” Big City Bride expects to see this trend continue throughout the year and we would love to help you design a “Beauty Bar” for your special celebration!

#TrendingTuesday … stay tuned for next Tuesdays 2014 Wedding Trend Report!

Chez Chicago: A New Chicago Venue

Last week, Big City Bride explored a new venue that would be perfect for a Chicago wedding or event. Chez Chicago is a contemporary loft space, but the history this place holds goes WAY back. This space was occupied by the “famous Chez Paree nightclub.” Between the 1930s and 1950s Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole performed in this space. Venues in Chicago are not simply a building, these walls are filled with great history that add character to the celebration. Chez Chicago is located two blocks from Michigan Ave and Chicago’s lakefront. Chez is close to many Chicago attractions and hotels, making it accessible and entertaining for guests. This space can accommodate 240 guests for cocktail hour, 200 for a seated dinner, and 150 for guests with a ceremony and seated dinner. For more information and rates check out:

Happy Anniversary Greg + Eleanor

Big City Bride sends all their love to Greg + Eleanor on their one year anniversary! It was with great pleasure that we had the opportunity to plan and be apart of such a special celebration. This day began at Assumption Church and continued at the River East Art Center. This garden inspired wedding was elegant beyond words. The greenery ceiling treatment is unique and was the first thing guests saw as they entered for cocktail hour. This beautiful piece of decor set the tone for the elegant rustic garden wedding decor that came together through: floral, draping, chairs, mismatched linens, wedding farm tables and print materials. One very unique element of this wedding was the specialty glassware. Gorgeous green glasses sat at each place setting birghtening up the farm tables completely. It was the little details of this wedding that made everything so special. It was an unforgettable Chicago wedding and we are so happy to have worked with such a kind, happy and elegant couple!

Here’s to Eleanor + Greg, may your day be filled with the same amount of love and happiness we were so lucky to witness last year.
