Small Business Saturday

Today, we celebrate Small Business Saturday! Big City Bride would like to extend a warm THANK YOU to all those who support us, and small businesses like us. On November 27, 2010 this holiday was conceived and has been promoted nationwide by American Express. In between the legendary Black Friday and Cyber Monday sits a day to celebrate all the locally owned businesses.  This day encourages holiday shoppers to embrace family-owned businesses and shop local storefronts.

Supporting small businesses boosts community and builds dreams. Small businesses take the time to make a personal connection with the customers and people in their community.  Chicago is home to many small businesses that rely on community support. Take time this Saturday to embrace a small business in your neighborhood! We are truly grateful for the support we have received and we would like to encourage you to support a local venture in your community. The Twitter hashtag #SmallBusinessSaturday will be trending so remember to show some social media love to your favorite small business! Big City Bride will be out and about today in Chicago supporting our favorite local shops, we hope you are too!!!

The Barn at Allen Acres is a 1920′s style dairy barn that has been in the Allen Family for 80 years. This once owned family farm has been beautifully restored and is now open to the public to host an authentic barn wedding. This newly restored barn features rustic beams, original wood siding, and GORGEOUS original barn doors.

This quiant two-story barn sits on over 3 acres of land located in rural Rock Falls, IL. This cozy landmark can host 150 guests comfortably indoor or outdoor. This space is ideal for an outdoor-tented reception, outdoor cocktails or ceremony! There are many possbilties with this space that can make your event truly unique!

Owner Karen Allen Rogers is adding new features to the barn and planning to add a house onto the property. Her vision is to give the Bride and Groom the option of staying at the house in preparation for their wedding or a place where the newlyweds can stay on their wedding night.

Art at the Park!

Big City Bride joined the Park Hyatt Hotel for a fun evening of ‘Art at the Park’ on Monday! Your favorite Chicago wedding planner was able to showcase our artistic talents by painting the Chicago Water Tower with our friends at The Park Hyatt! It was fun to see everyone’s different style and technique as we shared a lot of laughs! Having an acutal painting of the Water Tower as a point of reference helped us decide where we wanted to take our vision with the painting! After our pantings were finished everyone enjoyed some wine and sweets as we looked at everyones artwork!

Your favorite Chicago wedding planner had so much fun that we thought this could be a great idea for a bachelorette party! If your friends are wanting to celebrate your upcoming nuptials in a unique and fun way then this is it! A local company called Bottle and Bottega is home to these events! You can choose what you want to paint and have some fun with friends in one of their cozy studios. One of the perks is that their studios are BYOB so, all they ask is that you bring a bottle of wine to share with friends and they supply the rest! If you’re looking for just a girls night out, they also have public parties they host several times a week. Bottle and Bottega has multiple locations for you to choose where you want to show off your painting talents! Visit them at

‘Art at the Park’ was such a great night shared with our friends at the Park Haytt Hotel! We want to thank them for thinking of us and inviting us to come paint with them! We hope everyone enjoys our paintings!

Tablescapes ‘Guest Designer’!

Last week your favorite Chicago Wedding Planner had the fun task of designing a table at Tablescapes for their monthly ‘Guest Designer’. We are so honored to be asked by Tablescapes to design their table for the month of November! We couldn’t be more thrilled to be featured and had a lot of fun designing something new!

It’s not often that the entire BCB Team can get together, so this was exciting for all of us to come together and collaborate on a beautiful display! As we went through the Tablescapes showroom, we tossed around ideas and used certain pieces as inspiration for our design. Not only using items from Tablescapes, we were able to use items from the BCB office and fresh floral given to us by HMR Designs!

We decided on a ‘reclaimed modern’ direction taking a mix of eclectic, modern and romantic designsto bring them together using differnt elements of design. We love the juxtaposition of having eclectic items mixed with a modern table and a recycled bench with fresh floral. Taking a mix of design elements gives our display a fun and fresh look!

Your favorite Chicago Wedding Planner loved designing this display and spending time with our friends at Tablescapes! We want to thank them for this great and exciting opportunity to be featured as their ‘Guest Designer’. We also want to thank HMR Designs for the gorgeous floral and Robyn Rachel Photography for capturing our creation!
