We couldn’t be more happier to share that Stefanie and Adnan’s wedding was featured in one of our favorite Wedding blogs – Style Me Pretty! There was stunning jewlery, floral and not to mention the gorgeous couple saying ‘I do’ all captured at one of Chicago’s favorite hotels, theWit hotel.
Infusing some of the groom’s muslim traditions helped inspire the style of this ‘Pakistani Fusion’ wedding. Beautiful pops of color including fushia, purples, golds and oranges were shown in all floral, print materials and bridal attire. Embracing both of their customs, they had a wedding that was a complete fusion of them. From the ceremony, to the attire and decor..Stefanie and Adnan had their perfect wedding day that was completely them and we are so thrilled to share what a beautiful day it was.
Robyn Rachel Photography captured the infused wedding day, taking the best moments and making them into unforgettable memories. Take a look at more photos from Stefanie and Adnan’s wedding on the Style Me Pretty blog!
Happy Wednesday from the Big City Bride team! There are so many things to be thankful for and so many things to celebrate … so we’re jumping for joy and sharing the world’s funniest photo booth photos. Today we are thankful for Susan who just celebrated a birthday! We are overjoyed for Chrissy who welcomed a baby neice into the world this past weekend. She is the best aunt ever to three beautiful princesses. And then of course there is this new beautiful season of Fall … quickly settling in and bringing with it some very wonderful Big City Bride weddings. But of course, we are gleefully jumping this week to see the sunshine and feel the warmth to help us embrace what is left of Summer.
Yes. We are silly. These pictures were taken from our Knot Chicago Market Mixer! The Action Booth might be our new favorite thing. We think the Action Booth would make a fantastic addition to any Chicago wedding where you want your guests to have a hilariously good time! They provide a high quality camera, studio lighting, and other equipment to share photos rapidly to guests via a large display screen, on-site printing, and an online gallery! Guests can log onto www.actionbooth.com to look at your events photos and relive the memories from your amazing day! What a fun way to remember your special day!
Today we celebrate the strongest woman we know – our fearless leader…the backbone of Big City Bride…the woman with endless answers, constant support and never ending passion for her many roles in life: Susan Cordogan! Happy Birthday to the woman behind the success…who makes the balancing act of planning weddings, running a business, being a friend, a wife and a wonderful mom look easy – and who does it with a smile and an infectious laugh.??This is a day of celebration!
Happy Birthday Suz!
The Knot Chicago Market Mixer was such a great event! It was a fantastic way to get all the people behind Chicago’s greatest events together in one room. As the people behind the scenes at every party, it’s important to find a night to put work aside and have a little fun.

Absolute Precision Skin Care, City Winery Chicago, Michael Kett Lipsologist, Spa@theWit, Action Booth, Desens Concepts and Ideas, Origa_Me, Stella & Dot, Sugar Bliss, Big City Bride, Bridal Beauty Chicago, Elegant Productions, R.E.M. What an honor and what a thrill! TheWit Hotel Chicago had the crazy idea that it would be fun to have a Big City Bride Chicago planner jump off theWit rooftoop and rappell down all 27 floors. The Skyline Plunge! Chicago event happens twice a year, hosted by theWit to raise funds and thrill fundraisers over the edge. Each rappeller raised funds for the Respiratory Health Association to support their efforts against Lung Cancer, COPD, asthma and more. Chicago wedding planner Claire Weller represented the Big City Bride team and found herself going over the edge of theWit for an epic adventure. Here is what Claire has to say about it:
WHAT A TRIP! Never did I think I’d find myself on the roof of theWit hotel, or any tall Chicago building for that matter and have the guts to look over the edge, let alone rappell over and all the way down. Growing up my dad would sneak my brothers and I to the roof when my mom left the house … a little adventure that only dad knew about. Perhaps that set me up to enjoy the thrill of heights and the fun of being where no one else normally goes. When theWit Hotel asked me to take the Skyline Plunge! Chicago I could not resist and I did not hesitate. What a once in a lifetime experience! When I found out that the event supports the Respiratory Health Association I was proud to take part and support an organization that fights the health issues that affect so many families, including my own. My wonderful grandfather suffered from COPD and lung disease until he past away last year. This was a chance to spread his love for life and joy for having fun!
I will say – it’s nerve racking to get strapped in and head up to the rooftop! Luckily they allowed my best friend to come with to take these pictures of the experience. It is true what they say, sharing your adventures with people you love makes them even more special. Here are a few pictures that Liz snapped of the day so you can see what it was like from the top!
Here is the team of volunteers and professionals who put on the Over the Edge event, keeping everyone safe and supporting the anxious rappellers through it all. They thought I was hilarious because I was all smiles and all laughs – so excited for my turn!
The view – and me stepping off the edge.
Getting comfortable and stretching out over the great city of Chicago. I did in fact use my lungs (since it was a Respiratory Health Association event I thought it was appropriate.) I may have yelled “HELLO CHICAGO!” “YAAA BIG CITY BRIDE!” and “I’M ON TOP OF THE WORLD” all at some point. I think anyone would have in my position!
27 floors does not go quickly. It’s actually a lot of work to pull the rope up from the ground and pinch the contraption that lets rope through. It’s also surprisingly an amazing ab workout if you want to keep your legs up by the wall. That said…I spent a lot of time stopping and hanging…soaking up the moment and this amazing opportunity to float in the sky above State Street. I took in the view. I yelled down to my Big City Bride coworkers who came to support me! I threw my hands up and laughed a lot. I posed for pictures for the guests who found me rappelling past their hotel window. I even got a little risky bouncing off the windows. I can only imagine how silly I looked from the ground.
The best part was coming down to screams of support from my Big City Bride ladies. What wonderful friends. After a late night of Chicago wedding planning on Saturday they so loyally woke up early to watch me slowly lower down to the ground on Sunday. Here I am waving to them before I began and then us together as soon as I found ground.
It was an amazing experience and I hope that when the event returns to theWit next Spring they will have a long line of fundraisers ready to push their limits for a good cause.
Big City Bride had the honor of planning the Chicago Market Mixer with the Knot wedding network once again. Every year the Knot hosts a party to bring together the best Chicago wedding vendors to actually enjoy a party (rather than work it.) Your favorite Chicago wedding planners created a dream event for those who love wedding trends, specialty wine and great live music. The theme was luxuriously crafty – using centerpieces and accents of paper flowers, mismatched frames and wine crates in eclectic arrangements to pop in the neutral space.
Big City Bride and the Knot chose City Winery as the Chicago venue for the event. Located on Randolph Street in the hub of exquisite restaurants, City Winery is the newest hip place to dine, drink, see a concert and to host an event. The private space sometimes used as a concert venue works perfectly for events. The raised wrap around bar and substantial stage suggest it’s built for a party! City Winery Chicago served up watermelon and wine cocktails and food stations perfectly paired by the sommelier at the wine bar.
For decor we chose to highlight paper flowers to go with our luxuriously crafted theme. We are so excited about the potential of paper flowers to become a lasting trend, beloved for their ability to be customized, reused, cost effective and fresh year round! Rustic touches of wooden tables, benches, wicker furniture, burlap and lace completed the design.
Guests enjoyed new takes on the photobooth concept with the highly interactive Action Booth that captures guests in motion for some of the funniest photos you’ve ever seen! Seperately, a green screen photowall put guests on the new cover of the Knot magazine – a dream for any wedding enthusiast.
The Knot Market Mixer was a huge success and a great way to explore new decor and see some of Chicago’s greatest wedding vendors! Big City Bride is so grateful they were able to partner with the wonderful ladies at the Knot magazine to put the event together.
We’re throwing up any fears of height and watching them fall….hopefully we don’t fall quite as fast.
