It was wonderful to celebrate the Catering Executives Club of America’s 80th anniversary last night at the Hotel InterContinental Chicago. The evening commemorated an impressive history of the organization who has set the standards of excellence in the Chicago event industry. The evening raised funds for continuing scholarships to help striving hospitality students reach their fullest potential. It is the financial support and the mentoring from elites within the Chicago event industry that help the next generation prepare for the best Chicago events! From Chicago venues and hotels, Chicago rental companies, Chicago event planners, Chicago entertainment, to Chicago event designers and stationers…the Catering Executives Club of America is an elite group of professionals. Cheers to 80 great years and a wonderful night! Thank you for including the Big City Bride Chicago wedding planners in the award nominations and celebration!
It was a fun night of cocktails, dinner, and dancing and the whole Big City Bride team joined the party! Here are just a few photos snapped at the party. Follow @bigcitybride on instagram for up to date photos of our events and the fun we’re having.
Big City Bride loves a movie about weddings! It’s so fun to see a gorgeous wedding without the responsibility that comes with being a Chicago wedding planner. It’s fun to see what beautiful things a movie set can do to a wedding…and to enjoy the drama and stressers that movies script around a wedding. On wedding day it’s our job to fix the problems, to seperate the divorced parents, to keep the bride happy, and to make it a flawless event. When we watch a movie we can to simply enjoy. Hence, Big City Bride is looking forward to a fun ladies night out for the Chicago movie premier of The Big Wedding. Next Thursday, April 26th The Big Wedding opens in theaters but today Big City Bride has fifty free tickets to share to the advance screening of the film on Tuesday, April 23rd:

Your favorite Chicago wedding planner has found a new, stunning Chicago wedding venue that we think is worth mentioning! Everyone is always looking for a new space with new potential. Big City Bride loves the potential of a loft space to highlight the raw beauty of wood and brick…and to create a unique atmosphere for each event. Loft 644 is a beautiful loft space perfect for your Chicago wedding! Located in Chicago’s River North neighborhood, the 3200 square foot timber and brick loft space can be turned into a beautiful setting for your special day.
Loft 644 shows off its original twenty foot tall wood ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows! The space can hold 300 people for cocktail type events and 75 for a seated event. A separate lounge area is convenient for the bridal party to gather and the gorgeous modern bathrooms are an important thing to note. As for the party…a raised stage, offering an area for your favorite Chicago wedding band or DJ to rock the party and fill the great big dance floor!
With the past few days bringing on rainy weather we know that spring Chicago brides might be a little anxious for a wet weather wedding. Chicago wedding planners understand the stress but we know how to prepare for any weather forecast. Big City Bride can adjust the schedule, transportation, or Chicago wedding photography plan if needed. We’re also there to hold an umbrella and keep you looking beautiful all day long!
Chicago outdoor wedding ceremonies are wonderful and there are so many Chicago wedding venues and Chicago gardens that offer a beautiful backdrop. However, it’s important to always have a Plan B in case the clouds decide to open up and the rain falls. Your rain plan might be a tent or it might be an indoor set up. If you had your Chicago wedding ceremony planned at a garden like Cancer Survivor’s Garden or Tiffany Celebration Garden make sure you have a way to tell guests that the ceremony location has changed due to rain. Make sure you have transportation for the bridal party so no one gets their expensive hairdo totally soaked or their fancy heels sloppy. And…remember to keep smiling because Chicago wedding photos look amazing on a misty day so your Chicago wedding photographer will not stop snappin’!!!
P.S. Everyone says that it’s good luck for rain on your wedding day.
We had a wonderful Big City Bride dinner last night at Zed451! It’s so rare to get a night together away from Chicago wedding planning. We were there to snoop on all the private dining spaces and to try the Zed451 dining experience … so we weren’t entirely off duty. With an endless harvest table full of vegetables, salads, cheeses, and soups we could have been happy with just the beginning of the meal. Then, as we enjoyed a cocktail or a glass of wine we sampled eight different and delicious selections of meat. Chefs were there to help slice and select the perfect amount and make the dining experience interactive and fun. Needless to say Big City Bride didn’t need a big lunch today! We can’t wait to visit again when the Zed451 rooftop opens up!
Chicago wedding planners need to be up with the best Chicago restaurants because many offer private dining spaces for Chicago researsal dinners, Sunday brunches, and sometimes even for an intimate Chicago wedding. The Zed451 rooftop offers the potential for a rooftop Chicago wedding ceremony outdoors and a cocktail hour to follow, whether your reception is in the restaurant or not! Although it’s an untraditional choice, Chicago is full of hidden secrets just like this and Big City Bride is here to help think through the unexpected to make your Chicago wedding special.
Today the single day passes went on sale and sold out for Chicago’s Lollapalooza music festival. Within an hour Lollapalooza tickets were sold out for the three day music festival held annually in Grand Park the first weekend in August. Chicago wedding planners and brides must take note as August is a very popular Chicago wedding month and events like Lollapalooza present a handfull of concerns. That said, Big City Bride loves music and embraces any challenge that Lollapalooza brings to a Chicago wedding! With ten years of experience in Chicago weddings we know what to expect and how to avoid the traffic and potential mahem of every weekend.
Often Chicago brides call when they realize their wedding date falls on a busy day in Chicago so that Big City Bride can take on the stress of day of coordination. There are two main worries that we tackle: hotel rooms and transportation. With such a tourist attraction coming to the city, hotel rooms go quickly (the tickets went faster than a Catholic wedding ceremony!) Big City Bride can help reach out to every contact we have in the hospitality industry to find the remaining room blocks available and reserve enough rooms for your out of town wedding guests in Chicago.
Wedding day transportation is another area where a Chicago wedding planner can step in to save the day. With an understanding of closures and traffic estimations, Big City Bride knows how to schedule your wedding day around any potential problem. We factor in the right amount of time, choosing the right hotels and venues to avoid any problem area, and contracting only the most loyal and reliable vendors for the day.
Do not be afraid! You can embrace the fun of Lollapalooza Chicago and celebrate your wedding on the first weekend in August or any other day with a large convention or event (with the right help.) Your wedding guests may love the opportunity to make a weekend of your wedding and spend either Friday or Sunday in Grant Park. It’s a great schedule of events!
