This Easter Sunday the church bells will be ringing! Little kids get dressed in their Sunday best, the choirs sing, the organs play, and every Chicago church is in celebration mode. Big City Bride is lucky to spend many hours in Chicago churches celebrating Chicago weddings. We often feel the celebration and joy commonly felt on Easter Sunday. Big City Bride is so blessed to be Chicago wedding planners, sending bride and grooms down the aisle to start their new life together. We love the anticipation and preparation and respect the sanctity of a Chicago church wedding.
Chicago wedding planners have worked in most of the Chicago wedding churches and can provide recommendations for the style and religious affiliation you’re looking for. Chicago has incredible churches to choose from and we know the pros and cons of each regarding architecture, ease of communication, pre-marital counseling and requirements, cost, air conditioning, photographer restrictions, available timing, parking options, etc. From there we can have fun with the details to make it a beautiful celebration!
The Big City Bride Chicago wedding planning office is nestled in the cozy neighborhood of Lincoln Park. Outside of the bustle of downtown Chicago, Big City Bride offers a peaceful escape. We are proud of our neighborhood and happy to be in a quiet place surrounded by the fun of DePaul University and endless restaurants and bars. Located next to McGee’s, Big City Bride wedding planners and couples are frequent customers for a lunch or dinner during planning. Sometimes Big City Bride indulges in what we like to call “Fried Food Friday!”
We’re happy to announce a new addition to the Big City Bride neighborhood – the greatly anticipated Homeslice! Just two doors down from the Big City Bride office, this Oregan inspired Pizzaria has brought a unique and wonderful new style of pizza into our lives. Homeslice is the talk of the town and one of the newest and hippest places to check out. Our first visit yesterday for two slices brought us back just hours later for a full pizza. For all of our brides and grooms – check it out before or after your next meeting at Big City Bride!
Speaking of pizza, we might as well mention how great it is for Chicago rehearsal dinners. If you have a lot of out of town guests, think about showing off Chicago’s famous deep dish pizza. Lou Malnati’s Pizza is a favorite and the Gold Coast restaurant offers private dining for your event. It’s casual, it’s cool and your guests are sure to have a wonderful experience of real Chicago pizza. Lou Malnati’s offers a more inexpensive but fun option to gather all the people you love. Gino’s East Pizza also provides great pizza and great rooms for your private party. If you’re not a fan of deep dish this pizza joint also offers thin crust along with fabulous calzones, pasta, and salad!
One of the hardest parts of our job is to explain the costs associated with a Chicago wedding. Big CIty Bride does not create the costs…but we can educate, prioritize and propose options for every element of your Chicago wedding day. Weddings cost a lot of money and Chicago weddings cost more than most. The Knot magazine just released their 2012 bridal survey with the 25 most expensive places to get married and Chicago came in #2 with an average cost of $49,810! Here’s a glimpse at what the rest of the country looks like…but keep in mind this is the average!
Well under the New York City Manhattan wedding budget and well over the national average wedding budget of $28,427, Chicago wedding planners have a lot of responsibility. The logistics and challenges of city wedding planning, the increased costs and taxes, and the high taste and expectations make for amazing events. We are honored to be a part of the Chicago wedding industry and to have our hand in some of the very exciting Chicago weddings included in this survey (both below and above the average.)
Lucky in love, this Big City Bride couple tied the knot on St. Patrick’s Day weekend at the Chicago wedding venue River East Art Center. With a ceremony and reception both on-site, River East Art Center looked beautiful and remained a quiet oasis from the city’s crazy green celebration. With a Chicago wedding planner to think through the logistics and details of the day, choosing a holiday or a busy day downtown Chicago isn’t a worry.
Thank you Robyn Rachel Photography for sharing Chicago wedding pictures in just days! It’s so fun to see a sneak peek of the Chicago wedding photos when everything is fresh in the couple’s minds..the guest’s memories…and ours! It’s always fun to relive a little. Can’t wait to see more.
Congrats Jennifer & Kevin!
Do not forget to turn your clocks forward Saturday night when you turn the lights off! We are SPRINGING forward into more sunlight and the excitement for everything we love most about Chicago – sun, outdoor patios, rooftop bars, beach, iced lattes, dresses, and Chicago wedding season! Big City Bride is anxiously awaiting our favorite time of year.
As Chicago wedding planners, Big City Bride is here to keep things moving smoothly and on time. For any Sunday Chicago weddings this weekend, it’s important that guests and Chicago wedding vendors know the correct time so the event can go off without a hitch. On Sunday, March 10th at 2:00AM, spring your clocks forward to 3:00AM and rest assured this is a wonderful sign – the best is soon to come.
Only because it is March can Big City Bride say we actually enjoyed yesterday’s Chicago snow storm! We don’t have much longer for snow, to endure it or to appreciate it. With record inches of snowfall the commute became difficult for most Chicagoans, Chicago wedding planners included! Safer than the roads, trains are always a popular choice on these days. If you found yourself in Union Stations’ Great Hall yesterday perhaps you dreamt of the potential that lies within the space. So grand, such high ceilings, so monumental in Chicago … Union Station is a favorite Chicago wedding. Whether your style is simple and clean or luxurious and extravagant, this Chicago wedding venue will embrace your decor.
With so much space, you have unique opportunities with your floor plan. No need for all rounds. Mix feast tables, rounds, and squares to create an enviornment your guests would never expect. Thank you to Allori Photography for capturing the potential of Union Station in these Chicago wedding photos!
With gorgeous and historical architecture, embrace it and use it to your advantage! Highlighting Union Station with Chicago event lighting will make the space more grand, but also more cozy as the night turns to dancing.
It’s always fun when a Big City Bride Chicago wedding finds its way to brides nationwide. This is such a wonderful city to tie the knot and weddingchannel.com does a wonderful job showcasing Chicago weddings for everyone to see! This wedding was held at the Chicago History Museum, a favorite Chicago wedding venue. Located in Lincoln Park, it is a beautiful and elegant background for a wedding.
Big City Bride worked with Jennifer and Juny to plan this sophisticated and fun wedding, with personalized print materials, forgeous floral, and amazing food. We are so thrilled to see them as a “Wedding of the Day” on WeddingChannel.
Thank you to Robin Sloan for capturing the day. What a talented Chicago wedding photographer she is!
